Your role as a Walmart cashier is crucial to the operation of the store, showcasing superior customer service, and executing transactions effectively. You serve as an ambassador for the Walmart brand, responsible for presenting the image of the company through your disposition, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile for each customer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities of Merchandise Associate:

• Offer a sincere and hospitable greeting to customers as they reach the checkout.
• Furnish assistance to clients in locating desired products, providing information on merchandise, and giving recommendations about store guidelines and policies.
• Handle customer questions, concerns, and complaints with finesse, providing resolution before they step away from the checkout area.
• With adeptness, examine and scan items ensuring appropriate pricing and coding while using the POS system.
• While complying with Walmart's cash handling policies, payments are processed through various options such as cash, credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments.
• Make sure that the promotional offer or discount being presented has not expired by checking the validity date mentioned on the coupon or promotional code.
• Pack your bag with precision and tidiness, dividing delicate items and perishables into distinct sections for their safety.
• Keep your cash drawer information in sync by checking it at the opening and closing of workdays.
• Verify the amount of money, checks, and coins accurately, ensuring that their total is accurate and valid.
• By following the prescribed security procedures, such as verifying the legitimacy of currency and being vigilant for suspicious actions, the likelihood of robbery can be reduced.
• By staying informed of ongoing promotions, sales, and new product offerings, businesses can expand their potential for add-on sales and upselling.
• For customers interested in fitness equipment, recommend related products such as workout clothes, sweat towels, and water bottles to enhance their workout experience.
• The checkout location should be kept clean, organized, and free of debris to enable customers to have a pleasant shopping experience, and periodic sanitization should be performed.
• Adequately monitor inventory levels of important supplies, such as bags and receipt paper, to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Foster a collaborative work environment by promoting effective coordination between team members and supervisors to enhance efficiency and prompt issue resolution.
• A work environment is strengthened when employees offer support to their colleagues during busy times.

Qualifications and Experience of Merchandise Associate:

• It is preferred that candidates possess a high school diploma or a similar credential.
• It is not mandatory to have prior experience in customer service or cashiering, but it can be helpful.
• Exhibit an iate ability to interact with customers professionally while still conveying an approachable and friendly demeanor.
• Remarkable numerical abilities and fundamental arithmetical skills for handling transactions and currency processing.
• Precision and the aptitude to handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-moving atmosphere.
• Being able to work flexible hours that vary and may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Being capable of standing for prolonged periods and lifting moderate loads.
